Compassionate, Emotionally-Focused Therapy with Anya MacPhail
THERAPIST INTERN | INDIVIDUALS AND COUPLES
You want to feel heard, understood, and supported through life’s challenges. Anya offers a warm, relational space to help individuals and couples navigate anxiety, disconnection, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm.
Raised in The Bahamas and educated across Canada and the United States, Anya brings a multicultural lens to her work and values the many experiences, identities, and stories clients bring into the therapy room.
She recognizes that culture, relationships, and life experiences shape how we understand ourselves and navigate challenges. Her hope is to create a space where clients feel welcomed, respected, and understood — wherever they are coming from.
ABOUT ANYA
Therapy That Helps You Feel Seen, Understood, and Supported
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable — especially when life feels overwhelming, relationships feel strained, or you are carrying emotions that are hard to make sense of. Anya strives to create a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, genuinely heard, and supported as they move through life’s challenges. She works with both individuals and couples, offering a thoughtful and collaborative approach that helps clients better understand themselves, their emotions, and their relationships.
Anya believes healing is most meaningful when approached holistically — recognizing that emotional, relational, psychological, and social experiences are deeply interconnected. Her goal is not simply symptom reduction, but helping clients feel more grounded, connected, and equipped to move forward in meaningful ways.
Education
As a therapist intern at The Well Counselling & Recovery Services, Anya is currently completing her Master of Arts in Clinical Counselling at Tyndale University.
How Anya Works
Anya utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based approach that helps people understand the emotional patterns that shape how they experience themselves and others. Whether working with individuals or couples, therapy focuses on slowing things down, making sense of emotional experiences, and strengthening connection — both within yourself and in your relationships.
Anya also draws on additional therapeutic frameworks to meet clients where they are, tailoring care to each person’s unique needs, goals, and experiences.
Clients often seek support with:
- Anxiety and overwhelm
- Depression and low mood
- Life transitions and identity shifts
- Relationship challenges and emotional disconnection
- Stress and feeling “stuck”
- Emotional patterns that no longer feel helpful
Modalities
- EFIT Essentials (completed Spring 2026)
- EFT Supervision in progress.
Anya is supervised by Jodi Rouah, an experienced psychotherapy supervisor who is currently pursuing certification as a supervisor with ICEEFT in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
